Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14th 1988) is an American actress, singer and dancer. As a young actress, she appeared in Broadway roles, she played in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. For her role as Essie in You Can't Take It With You she was awarded the Tony Award. Annaleigh, Tony Award-winning actress and director, has spent the majority of her career working with well-known directors and actors in film and on television. Ashford's upcoming project is an exclusive Hulu show called Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show premieres on November 22, and Ashford plays opposite Kumail Najiani. Ashford is currently working for Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust starring opposite Sarah Paulson and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. The film will be available through Disney's DTC platforms as a Hulu Original. Ashford is set to return in 2023, and will play opposite Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in the revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. This production will be directed by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team who produced Hamilton. Ashford's latest performance was Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. The show is based on the national scandal which involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, as well as Linda Tripp. Ashford appeared for two seasons in the CBS successful comedy B Positive. It was co-produced by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. It featured Linda lavin, Hector Elizondo, as well as Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. Her portrayal of Essie in You Can't Take It with You won her the Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Other Broadway performances are Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and her first role as Lauren In Kinky Boots a performance for which she also received a Tony Award nomination. Ashford was raised and born in Denver and now divides her time between Los Angeles, and New York.
